...reorganization effort comes hard on the heels of pointed allegations by longtime agent Coleen Rowley, who wrote a letter to Mueller accusing her superior agents of ignoring her repeated attempts to investigate Zacarias Moussaoui, widely identified as the would-be 20th hijacker in the September 11th attacks. The memo, dated May 21st, goes on to angrily suggest that the agency's leadership is involved in "a delicate and subtle shading/skewing of facts?." and is making "a rush to judgment to protect the FBI at all costs." ...hours after September 11th, FBI agents in Minneapolis shared a macabre joke. For weeks prior, they had tried to interest FBI headquarters in Washington in Zacarias Moussaoui, now known as the 20th hijacker. They had begged FBI Headquarters to give them permission to seek a search warrant of Moussaoui's computer. They were denied. ...folks. This is pure, frothy, self-righteous politics - and we really should do a better job of separating the two. The RNC decided to present three photographs of "defining moments" in the Bush presidency. Obviously, as it defined so many things for most of us, the events of September 11th serve as a natural backdrop for one of those images. As much as the Democrats may want to forget, President Bush was the guy in charge of the country that day, and while his reaction to the attacks is no more or less real or valuable than that...
