...Western Europe; about one-fifth of Europe's energy may eventually come from the North Sea. Norway is already feeling pressure to speed up development from industrialists eager to spur the economy, and it probably will do so in the chillier, deeper and more treacherous waters above the 62nd parallel where even richer oil deposits may lie. Already there is preliminary exploration activity far from the North Sea-running off the Irish coast, even north into Greenland. Still a frontier itself, the North Sea is already serving as a steppingstone to another...

...band beating out rock'n'roll, not with some 2,200 presidential aides and secretaries and third assistant deputies all crammed into the East Room of the White House-but Jerry Ford beamed and chuckled and acted just as though he had forgotten it was his own 62nd birthday. His doctor had given him a checkup and pronounced him fit, and so did Comedian Flip Wilson, who came to the party as Nurse Geraldine in a red wig and white uniform. "That is very good, to ease the burden of man in time of trouble," Korff quoted Nixon as saying. Korff said that the fund drive he heads has raised $95,000 for Nixon's costs, but it needs another $15,000 to meet...

...party got off to a rousing, Texas-style start in the same hotel bar where Teddy Roosevelt was supposed to have recruited the Rough Riders. Before the day was over, Lady Bird Johnson and the friends and relatives who helped her celebrate her 62nd birthday, including America-Beautifiers Laurence Rockefeller and Mary Lasker and former Press Secretary Liz Carpenter, attended a mariachi Mass in San Antonio's 254-year-old San Jose mission. They then proceeded to the mission's high-ceilinged granary for a dinner by candlelight. The high point of the day, though, occurred when...
