...went to the College Jubilee on the 8th instant. A noble and well-thought of anniversary. The pathos of the occasion was extreme and not much noted by the speakers. Cambridge at any time is full of ghosts. But on that day, the anointed eye saw the crowd of spirits that mingled with the procession in the vacant spaces, year by year, as the classes proceeded, and then the far longer train of ghosts that followed the Company, of the men that wore before us the College honors and the laurels of the state--the long winding train reaching back...

Ravagers, despoilers, pagans, heathens--such epithets pretty well summed up the Vikings for those who lived in the British Isles during medieval times. For hundreds of years after their bloody appearance at the end of the 8th century A.D., these ruthless raiders would periodically sweep in from the sea to kill, plunder and destroy, essentially at will. Former 8th district congressman Joe Kennedy founded a non-profit organization called "Citizen's Energy." The non-profit corporation uses entrepreneurial revenue to provide heating and oil to low-income families at up to 40 percent below market value. Thanks to Kennedy's effort as a private citizen, many Massachusetts families can live more comfortably...
