...Edward S. King, passed away this afternoon, February 22, after an illness of two weeks of pleuro-pneumonia. Although only 21 years old, he displayed an extraordinary brilliancy and versatility of mind. He took part in the work of the Harvard Observatory and showed that the ancient instrument, the abacus, could be used to advantage in calculations there.
