Night Terror. Smith remains publicly confident, while privately he is negotiating with Bishop Abel Muzorewa, moderate chairman of the African National Council, Rhodesia's largest recognized black political organization. Smith acknowledges that majority rule must come to Rhodesia, but his timetable is nothing like Muzorewa's. The bishop is reportedly willing to wait ten years or so. Smith wants blacks to hold off another 60 to 75 years. The bishop has warned that unless the regime negotiates with him in better faith, Smith may eventually be forced to talk terms with the infinitely more intransigent ZANU instead. That...

"Everything depends on the good will of the present regime," Muzorewa adds, "but, sadly, good will is not now apparent." Indeed, the regime has not only broken off talks...
...been content to record the onstage performances of the musicians, many of them still rowdy and full of solid, rough energy, the movie would have been enjoyable enough. Film Makers Levin and Abel, however, have also tried to compress the history of the '50s between the concert scenes. Some of the stock footage they unearthed is silly and funny, and some is bafflingly remote...
...long as they concentrate on dusting off these pop curiosities, Levin and Abel do well enough. But they also try, unfortunately, for something a little more substantial. Adlai Stevenson joins Jayne Mansfield, Khrushchev is paired off with the Coasters. There is even a bathetic requiem to some departed figureheads of the decade as the 5 Satins sing I'll Be Seeing...
