Attempts to increase female attendance at parties abound all over campus, even extending as far as parties where the theme is, quite literally, “Bring Girls!” These practices encourage the myth that the number of girls a guy can convince to accompany him to a party is an indicator of his worth. Some organizations even go to extreme lengths to increase the girl to guy ratio. In order to attempt to decrease the number of (male) party crashers, these groups inform their members of parties via last second phone calls. This situation is not exclusive...

...unnecessary; but, in an era when films are shot with the DVD in mind, necessity takes a back-seat to the three disc special edition, complete with collector’s booklet of arcane diagrams and vulgar Latin. Character bios, conceptual art and hours of behind-the-scenes commentary abound; one feature even allows the viewer to jump from the movie into comic book expositions at crucial moments. The trigger-happy viewer will quickly dissolve into Hellboy nerd-dom, muttering “I did not know that” as he is apprised of the items on Hellboy?...

Horror stories abound about the way in which academic work by the great minds who teach us sometimes gets rushed to print without proper proofreading. Some graduate students who work for professors are forced to drop everything and spend the three days prior to a printers’ deadline reading a professors’ text through; undergraduate faculty aides sometimes correct mistake-addled bibliographies only hours before a conference paper must be given. Something...

...city is also known for its clubs, of course, and options abound beyond the famous Second City for comedy and Kingston Mines or Green Dolphin Street for jazz. Natives flock to Rosa's Lounge, a blues haven northwest of downtown run by Tony Rosa and his mother. You may not end up dancing in the streets, as Matthew Broderick's character did, but a few hours of R. and R. in Chicago will certainly feel like...
