...Arab side, the summit constituted a resounding vote of support for Abbas as a worthy partner for peace and a repudiation of Hamas' rejectionist agenda. The summit effectively ostracized Hamas from the Arab fold, warning that it will have no future political role in Palestine if it does not accept the rules of democracy and reverse its coup against Abbas' authority in Gaza. In the view of Arab optimists, Abbas now more fully understands the danger that Hamas represents to his own leadership as well as the Palestinians' future. ...Gabon to Nigeria to Guinea, it is the same story: a hundred cronies surround a dictator who connives with oil companies to amass wealth while millions live in dire poverty. Western governments and their oil companies must step in and stop the looting! Just as Western banks do not accept al-Qaeda's money, so too should they refuse African dictators' stolen money. ...woman gets a preview of their plans tomorrow, but she won't be sharing them with the British public. Queen Elizabeth will receive Tony Blair in a private audience at Buckingham Palace early in the afternoon to accept his resignation. The prime ministerial limousine that brings Blair and his wife Cherie from Downing Street will not take them on to their next destination but instead must remain parked up in the palace courtyard, awaiting a new master. He won't be long in coming. Brown, too, will meet the Queen, after his predecessor is safely off the premises...
