In the 1916 Minnesota primary. Senator Clapp was defeated, as was the late U. S. Representative Charles A. Lindbergh. The victor was Frank Billings Kellogg. In 1927 Mr. Clapp rescued his small granddaughter from drowning in the Potomac, suffered a lasting shock...
