Harry Truman's account reported that the decision to fire MacArthur was unanimously endorsed by Secretary of Defense General George Marshall, Secretary of State Dean Acheson, Presidential Adviser Averell Harriman, and by General Omar Bradley and his entire Joint Chiefs of Staff.
