Members of the Varsity fencing team and several graduates yesterday met in the first matches of the University Fencing Championship. After a close series of encounters, Henry P. Walker 1G, of the Harvard Fencing Club, emerged triumphant to take first place in the sabre event. Edward A. Ackerman '34 gained the runner-up position after displaying a strong attack which Walker had difficulty in checking.
