Died. Carl W. Ackerman, 80, newsman and longtime (1931-56) dean of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism; of a heart attack; in Manhattan. As a reporter, Ackerman had his share of scoops, notably the first substantial account in 1918 of the execution of Russia's Czar Nicholas II and family.
