These contradictions parallel those of the Harvard administration. President Bok responded to protests last year by reissuing a statement of five years earlier. He has refused invitations to defend the University position in public. And the establishment of the Advisory Committee on Shareholder Responsibility (ACSR) in the early 1970s can only be viewed as a tool of the administration, making it appear to be initiating change.
