...Much of his attention has centered on the anger that can consume boys during their high school years. Manifesting in the home as sullenness, disobedience and fierce assertions of independence, teen rage confuses and distresses parents, who often make matters worse with their clumsy, if well-meaning, attempts to address it. In his new book, Doing Anger Differently, Currie explores what's at the core of boys' anger and lays out the dos and don'ts of the parental response. Between patients, he chatted with TIME about the turbulent inner world of the adolescent...

...Clinton and Obama have both pledged to support self-determination for Puerto Rico, which appeals to both parties, although Obama has suggested that he supports a constitutional assembly to address the issue, a bit of a shout-out to commonwealthers. Obama has snagged the endorsement of Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila, who presides over the commonwealth party's machine, and is running for reelection even though he's under indictment for campaign finance violations, allegations which he denies. These shows don't address class directly, at least not by the American dollars-and-cents definition. The jobs pay well--$75,000 a year for a rookie rigger on Black Gold. The class difference lies in the attitude toward money. TV doctors and lawyers don't talk salary--they, like many upper-middle-class professionals, can take comfort and stability relatively for granted. But here, everything is denominated in dollar terms. You hear the price tag whenever a saw gets lost ($1,000) or a pipe gets jammed ($50,000) or a worker calls in sick...

...lives in Brussels and is a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Best known for the 2003 success Of Paradise and Power: America and Europe in the New World Order, Kagan recently made news as a major influence behind John McCain's most ambitious foreign-policy address to date, delivered in late March in Los Angeles. It would be a mistake, however, to dismiss him as a mouthpiece for McCain or as just another American neoconservative, for he is neither. Kagan is a realist, to be sure, reminiscent of earlier public intellectuals such as Raymond Aron, Reinhold...
