These are essential issues. But as even some White House aides admit, Clinton's traveling show is most effective when he's getting things done back in Washington--and most of that work is done in Congress. "He obviously has to go through Congress to get things done," says Leon Panetta, the outgoing chief of staff. "But he can't be seen as tied to its failings. He has to use the bully pulpit effectively and confront Congress effectively." As other aides point out, legislative action is required for 80% of the items on Clinton's to-do list: offering...

...three years, I have had the opportunity and privilege of sharing my opinion with all of you. Although I admit that I have complained quite a bit, that I have often written words of anger and disappointment with a biting sarcasm which has certainly maintained me in the solid consistency of the Saturday column of The Crimson (affectionately known as the "lighter day" paper), I have learned a lot, and I have grown as a writer and as a person. The Crimson has provided me with the means to voice my opinion and be heard, and that has been invaluable...

...hands and speaking loudly enough to fill the restaurant. "It's possible, you can never know, that the universe exists only for me." It's a mix of Descartes' metaphysics and Tom Stoppard's humor. "If so," he jokes, "it's sure going well for me, I must admit." He laughs; his eyes sparkle. Here's something machines can't do (I don't think): giggle about their plight in the cosmos, crack themselves up, have...

...right, of course, about the third alternative, and a very sensible one it is--working out some system of fooling the grader, although I think I should prefer the word 'impressing.' We admit to being impressionable, but not to being hypercredulous simps. His first two tactics for system beating, his Vague Generalities and Artful Equivocation, seem to presume the latter, and are only going to convince Crimson-reading graders (there are a few and we tell our friends) that the time has come to tighten the screws just a bit more...

...perhaps the best thing about following sports at Harvard is how it expands your horizons. I do have to admit that after being forced to watch several playoff games, I was impressed by Yankee manager Joe Torre and the athletic skills of Bernie Williams and Joe Deter. I would never have watched the Kansas City Chiefs/Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving if a girl in my dorm didn't live in Kansas and wasn't always talking about the mighty Chiefs. Though I still have to draw the line at rooting for the Oakland Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys and the Yankees...
