...Young Man's Fancy (by Harry Thurschwell & Alfred Golden; produced by Henry Adrian) treats of a summer camp for boys & girls - and particularly of four young ruffians who share a bunk with a rich man's coddled son. In its few bright moments, the play catches the addled essence of adolescence; but it keeps encoring each good bit until it turns into a bore. Worse still, A Young Man's Fancy combines a trite comedy plot with a cheap comedy trick. The little rich boy decides to play Master Fixit in a counselors' sagging romance...
...Wilfred Theodore Weems is no hot jazzman, though his first job after leaving college in 1924 was blowing the trombone in a group called the California Ramblers (other Ramblers: Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey, Adrian Rollini). Weems soon started a band of his own, specializing in what he calls "businessman's bounce." His College Inn audience last week was mostly people in their late 30s or early 40s, who got nostalgic memories when Weems played his old theme song, Out of the Night, and could remember the last time Heartaches...

Next afternoon, when Kramer and Schroeder (twice U.S. doubles champions, in 1940-41) teamed up against Bromwich and Adrian Quist, it was Schroeder's day again. Even though he made winning shots look difficult where Kramer made them look easy, it was Schroeder who carried the load with his smashing net game. That clinched the Cup for the U.S., for the first time since 1938. Another two-man U.S. team...
...baseline hugger. Says Kramer: "I have the kind of game that can beat him if I am absolutely right." On their match would probably turn the Davis Cup of 1946. Experts agreed that none of the other three Americans-Frank Parker, Ted Schroeder, Gardnar Mulloy-nor Australia's Adrian Quist, Dinny Pails and Newcomer Colin Long were any match for the Jacks...
