...well, and so I'll occasionally go back to the strict first phase if I feel my cravings are returning. But otherwise I'm just making the most healthy choices. I maximize whole fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, fiber, particularly fish. But if I'm at an affair or whatever, I'll indulge in a dessert...

...Telekom affair is reminiscent of the pretexting scandal that engulfed U.S. technology firm Hewlett Packard in 2006, costing chairwoman Patricia Dunn her job. It also is the latest in a remarkable series of disclosures about German companies spying on their employees and on journalists. Earlier this year, it emerged that discount retailers Lidl and Schlecker spied on their employees. ...still nascent downturn in the British market exposes more than just property investments. The social and cultural value of home ownership in the U.K. makes any slump more difficult to shoulder. The roots of this love affair with property go deep. For centuries, a house of one's own gave an Englishman not just privacy and status; until 1832, those in the countryside had no right to vote without property of a certain value. Small wonder, suggests Stuart Lowe, a housing expert at the University of York, that the English dream of home ownership has become "a deep cultural issue...
