These soldiers who in a changed France have nothing left but their ardent admiration of L'Empereur try to bring about a return of the grand age by attempting to seat L'Aiglon, the young son of Napoleon, on the throne of his father. Although they fail in the attempt, their remarkable loyalty and indomitable courage is faithfully reproduced in this picture.
