Pennies for Progress. Designed and built by TRW systems, each OGO is a refrigerator-size box with 14 simultaneously operating instruments pointing in five directions. To maintain the proper altitude for the instruments, the core contains sensors and controls that are used to stabilize the craft. One face al ways points toward earth, another toward the sun, another away from the earth, one away from the sun, and a fifth in the direction the OGO travels. Having disposed of the black leather-jacket set in The Wild Angels and LSD(The Trip), Roger" in The Wild Angels" and LSD (The Trip), Roger Corman turns to the past for sensations and comes up with Al Capone. The result is lots of catsup in ballrooms and garages. Corman, a set-happy director, lets the furniture generate most of the suspense in The St. Valentine's Day Massacre. You're on the edge of your seat, in anguish: Will the next chairs zipping into the picture be dressed in chintz or campy antique satin...

...more like a gangster. His grubby soul shines right through his lovely suit. George Segal, another Irishman, has Robards handicap-elemental elegance. On top of that, he bears such an incredible resemblance to Robards that when you see him dealing with the other Irishmen, you're sure it's Al baby in disguise, pulling a fast one on his rivals. The woman in a practically woman-less movie is Jean Hale--a Harlow type without Harlow's spunky vulgarity...

...travelogue of Gangland, 1929, Capone is champion of bootlegging, extortion and all other racket sports. The simple art of murder has placed him at the top alone-until George ("Bugs") Moran begins muscling in on Chicago's North Side. "I want that son of a bitch hit!" rages Al, and assigns exterminators to get rid of the Bugs in his operation. On Feb. 14, a bunch of thugs dressed as cops enter Moran's garage and gun down everyone-except Moran, who happens to be off the premises.
