History, legend and myth all coincide in The Alamo, which depicts two of the most famous battles of the Mexican-American war: the Siege of the Alamo in 1836 and the succeeding Battle of San Jacinto. At the Alamo, under their leaders Col. The picture has some ponderous and snooze-worthy stretches, but it attains a certain melancholic grandeur, with the actors and crew fighting as desperately as Crockett and Bowie to make the best of a fated adventure. Disney's accountants may not want to remember The Alamo, but moviegoers may find it doesn't fade away so fast...
