...over the good doctor's theory that the immensely popular Prozac-Zoloft-Paxil family could be dangerous not only in the short term (think homicidal and suicidal tendencies) but also down the road (think brain damage). Granted, Glenmullen has been dismissed by many of his fellow psychiatrists as an alarmist quack, but I think he's still got some explaining to do. I would like to know why anyone would feel the need to scare the living daylights out of an entire country where one would be hard-pressed to locate a single citizen who doesn't know someone taking...
...does Gore do it? How does he manage simultaneously to know all the relevant data and publish alarmist, unscientific screeds such as Earth in the Balance? Without taking away from his mental acuity, one might note that Gore has had eight years to hone his own understanding of what the multivalent meaning of "is" is. ...position is as alarmist as the right-wing black helicopter crowd's, They doubtlessly agree that the government spent "money just to make sure its very own weaponry wouldn't accidentally launch." There was never any concern among those knowledgible that our missiles, nuclear or otherwise, would launch because of Y2K. A missile requires manual, human action in order to be launched...
