Among the variety of new Russian jet liners they saw on display at Le Bourget, U.S. experts were most impressed by the potential of the YAK-40, a 23-passenger, tri-jet transport designed by Aeronautical Engineer Sergei Yakovlev, 27, son of famed Soviet Aircraft Designer Alexsandr Sergeevich Yakovlev, for whom earlier YAK planes were named.
