Before Obama took office, a group of health organizations including the March of Dimes sent memos to his transition aides asking for a change in federal policy to alter a Bush-era Medicaid policy. Current law does not allow women of childbearing age (15-44) to become eligible for Medicaid coverage until after they become pregnant or they have children who are enrolled in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). States that want to expand their Medicaid coverage to allow low-income women to access family-planning services must first obtain a federal waiver...
...would have his lasting, lifelong romance. This appears to have dawned on Updike slowly, but it was abundantly clear by the publication of his second novel, Rabbit, Run, the first volume of five that chronicled the life of Rabbit Angstrom, Updike's great hero. The amiability turned sour this weekend, however, when Chávez, reacting to a new Univision interview with Obama in which the President...
Created by Diablo Cody (Juno), Tara is funny, fascinating and frustrating. As in Cody's pregnancy comedy, too many characters speak the same pop-culturese, and each persona is a flat-out cliché. But family members' interaction with the alters is believable: you get a real sense that they're accustomed to Tara's condition, having developed different strategies for dealing with each alter. The problem is that the show is too determined to play up its oddity, down to having Tara change costume with every transformation, which actually detracts from Collette's amazing character shifts--she adopts...
