...Last year Princeton defeated Harvard, in a game played in the rain, by a score of 7 to 0; in 1901 no game was played; and in 1900 each won a game, Harvard by the score of 4 to 0, and Princeton by the score of 9 to 2. Although five of last years Princeton team are playing this year the team began the season with no great success, and has met defeat five times. Since the Pennsylvania game however, the team has shown steady improvement. In the box, both stevens last year's pitcher, and Underhill are doing very...
Stillman pitched steadily, although he did not seem to exert himself to any extent. While striking out eight men, he allowed only six safe hits, and gave no bases on balls. He also showed improvement in batting. Stephenson, who caught in the last three innings, showed improvement, but lacked the speed and accuracy of Kernan's throwing. Clarkson batted well, with a home run and a single to his credit, and made one excellent throw home from centre field in the eighth inning...
...Freshman baseball team defeated St. Mark's at Southboro on Saturday by the score of 15 to 2. Although the Freshmen won by so large a score, their work on the whole was not very encouraging, as the fielding, especially that of the infield, was inaccurate, the baserunning very erratic and the bunting a failure when needed. The Stevens team, besides being faster and more aggressive, showed well developed team play and good stick work. For the Freshmen, Galvin at centre did the best work; and Galey and Davis played well for Stevens...
...laugh too much. The drawings--particularly the centrepage--are executed with exceptional ability and are appropriate to the subjects; and the quibs and longer pieces of satire possess a sort of spontaneity that has become of late very rare. The "Guide to Courses," "Baedeker's Harvard" and "Chem. 3," although none of them are essentially new, nevertheless are more than justified by the originality of their treatment. The last named particularly is pre-eminently amusing and provokes a laugh without begging it. Two rather long poems "Retribution" and "The Seven E's" are pleasant bits of burlesque. The first named...
