Professor Willstätter's method of segregating enzymes is beautifully simple. The enzymes are colloids. White clay (kaolin) filters absorb certain kinds of colloids, alumina filters certain other kinds. Enzymes, which pass through both alumina and clay filters, have a third set of characteristics.
