...Sandinista are smart enough to know that no conceivable they might amass could possibly defeat a U.S. invasion. And the majority opinion is correct in saying that the Reagan Administration knows that direct invasion will not achieve Central American freedom and stability along the lines desired by the original leaders of the Nicaraguan Revolution. Such as invasion would actually play into the hands of the Sandinistas by galvanizing support. Mondale's malaise derives from a fact that hit home again last week: Democratic voters refuse to embrace him firmly and finally. He faces the distinct possibility that he may not amass a majority of committed delegates by the end of the primary season on June 5, thus setting off a messy preconvention scramble that could further divide his party. ...Street brokerage house. It was created solely to deal in such U.S. Government securities as bonds, notes and bills, currently a $1 trillion market. Using only 20 or 30 traders who operated out of a fifth-floor room above a Wall Street-area clothing shop, Drysdale quickly managed to amass a $4 billion-plus portfolio of borrowed U.S. Treasury securities...
