Died. Samuel Irving Rosenman, 77, one of Franklin D. Roosevelt's most valued advisers and speechwriters; in Manhattan. Rosenman's father was a clothing manufacturer in San Antonio before the family moved to New York when the boy was eight. In 1928, when Roosevelt ran for Governor of New York, Rosenman joined the campaign as legislative expert. He became Roosevelt's counsel the following year and, for F.D.R.'s acceptance speech of the 1932 presidential nomination, he contributed the term "New Deal."
