This is the last year of the five years' contract between Harvard and Yale and the railroad company. Yale has been anxious to take early steps towards a renewal of the old contract or towards getting a new one, but the Harvard boating authorities have held back because the University Treasurer will not allow the manager of the crew to speculate with the crew's funds. The present contract does not treat the college rowing associations at all fairly, as practically all the advantages of the big gathering go to the railroad and to the city...
...unparalleled race which Yale, with seven men, rowed last Saturday against the Atalanta crew, has again given rise to a spirit here at Harvard against which we protest. There is no reason whatever as yet for Harvard to feel anxious about the annual race, and there is no reason why certain men about college, noted for grumbling, should declare that Yale even now has practically won. This is not the spirit which makes a crew or a nine work, and which wins victories. Harvard men are altogether too willing to admit that they are beaten. Nearly everyone had given...

A. may-provided his rank has been distinctly high-feel sure of getting from $150 to $250 from this fund during his first year in Cambridge...

There are without doubt objections to be made on the other side of the ouestion. Those interested in the matter throughout the country, however, trust to accomplish everything by time and work, and have full confidence that the final issue will...
...rules to govern the match between the two colleges. Yale has sent down her code; she has the Canadian rules with a few changes, and will play with long sticks. Harvard has a set of rules of her own which have been sent to New Haven. Yale is anxious to arrange a match and if one is not played this year between the colleges, it certainly will be next year...
