Even though the stock of a rival textile manufacturer in Tennessee, the Dyersburg Corp., rose sharply the day after the fire, L.L. Bean and many of Malden's other customers pledged their support. Clothing from specialty apparel stores, like jerseys from the Limited or sweaters from Casual Corner, could languish on the racks this season. Thanks to Miuccia, the Milan-based house of Prada has gone from being a staid leather-goods firm to just about the most prized name in the apparel business. There are no clearance sales of Prada clothes; they can be hard to find at full price.
