...holiday last week in the woodland suburbs of Sofia, thousands of Bulgarians were appalled to see a bombing fleet of 50 planes appear over the distant capital and proceed to heave things overboard. There were no explosions. When startled trippers rushed home they found the bombers had showered only packages of leaflets. These brought such good news that all of Sofia promptly went on a spree of jubilation with dancing in the streets...

According to previous schedule a new Jefferson nickel was to appear this month as a successor to the buffalo nickel which has been in circulation since 1913. Last week the Bureau of the Mint announced that the public would have to wait till October. Reason: The Federal Fine Arts Commission did not like the original design (TIME, May 2), insisted on a new style of lettering on the coin, on changes in the detail of Thomas Jefferson's head on the obverse, on Artist Felix Schlag's redesigning the reverse so as to show Jefferson's home...

Trouble with The Terror of Tiny Town, Producer Buell was soon to realize, was that without a few normal-sized folks for contrast, midgets appear much like other people.
