Consoling as this theory appears, it will not withstand the facts without considerable refinement. Academic study rarely improves scores on IQ tests, syllogistic logic, or any other known measure of effective thinking. Neither does the discipline of studying one field appear to help you enter a new and unrelated field. Historians are no better qualified to draw sensible conclusions about medical evidence than are equally intelligent garage mechanics, and musicians are as baffled as stenographers when confronted with the intricacies of the stock market...

...Added the Berlin newspaper BZ: "We would be at the mercy of Communist intrigue. Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin have shown us how it is done. Suddenly there is unrest in the 'free city.' Then there are riots. Then come the 'spontaneous demonstrations'. Red flags appear. There are fights. Someone calls the 'People's Police.' The police come-and they stay...

But rarely has a column in concrete had such handsome treatment as Nervi evolved for the 72 paired columns that hold the seven-story Secretariat some 16 ft. in the air. Tapered from a rectangular cross section at the top to a near oval...
