...Harvard Project on Schooling and Children (HPSC), one of the five Interfaculty Initiatives instituted by President Neil L. Rudenstine, received a $1 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York last week in order to further its children's studies program. We applaud the Carnegie Corporation for its generous gift and we also congratulate Rudenstine and the HPSC for their efforts. We can only hope the HPSC will not be the only one of its kind...
...applaud OCS officials' recognizing that students have classes and extracurricular commitments in the afternoons and often cannot make it to the building before the reading room closes at 4:30 p.m. The extra hours may also add a modicum of calm to the reading room during frenzied afternoons, because students will realize that they can come back after dinner to look for more information. And anything that would make the atmosphere less tense in the room where students decide their futures is a positive change. It is about time the College realized that students operate on a much later schedule...

...AIDS Education Outreach (AEO) program, in concert with the task force on HIV policies, worked with UHS in an effort to get anonymous testing offered. For this we applaud them sincerely. Since AIDS is still a fatal disease that cannot be cured once the HIV virus is contracted, we want to see everything possible done to help combat its proliferation.
