...goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions campus-wide by 30 percent in the next decade, Harvard is once again rolling up its sleeves to tackle head-on the challenge of climate change," said Ian Bowles, the Massachusetts secretary of energy and environmental affairs. "Governor Patrick and I applaud Harvard for its leadership and ingenuity. We hope and expect that the university will serve as a model for similar efforts by other institutions in the months and years ahead...
...applaud the effort of traditional camps to pull the plugs: the ACA found in a 2007 survey that at least 3 out of 4 camps make kids leave their gizmos at home. It probably tells us something that the resistance often comes not from the kids but from Mom and Dad. The reward of your approval may be enough to encourage her to seek more...
Deathday Wishes I applaud Nancy Gibbs' article about the death of her father [May 5]. I am a trained nurse and have seen many lonely deaths in hospitals and nursing homes. My mother passed away three years ago at the age of 92, and I was lucky enough to have been there to see her and talk to her before she became unconscious. Perhaps us children being there with her before she died gave us some peace. But I and my sisters and brothers still miss our Mum, and my eldest sister is 72 years old! Patrick Kwai-sum Poon...
