...Boston City Council has passed an order accepting the act of the Legislature which authorizes the construction of the new Stadium Bridge. The expense of the Boston approach to the bridge, which, it is estimated, will reach $35,000, will be borne equally by the City of Boston and the Metropolitan Park Commission. A similar order came before the Cambridge City Council Tuesday night and was referred to the Committee on Highways. It will probably be reported to the Council next Tuesday night, and when passed will remove the last legal barrier to the construction of the bridge...
...length, while Columbia, Pennsylvania, Princeton and Yale were almost even. The second University crew's lead was never threatened from that time on, but the contest between the other crews was a keen one. Princeton showed surprising strength, first pulling ahead of Pennsylvania and Yale, then challenging Columbia. This approach spurred the Columbia crew to greater effort and it held its place, crossing the line second, two lengths behind the second University crew, while Princeton, Pennsylvania and Yale finished immediately behind Columbia in the order named Time, 6 minutes, 46 4-5 seconds...
...Morse succeeded in scoring three times, thus bringing the score 14 to 13, the CRIMSON still smiling. ...Oxford only the Dons, or college officers, are permitted to walk on the grass. At Harvard the "Dons" appear to be the only persons to pursue the paths. Everyone else, led on by that delightful abandon which accompanies the approach of the merry Maytime, not only ambles on the grassy edges of the lawn, but, on the way to Memorial Hall, ventures occasionally into pastures new. The result in the latter case is a fairly obvious suggestion that the Superintendent of Grounds and Buildings establish a new and convenient path. This suggestion will, doubtless, be acted upon...
...most delightfully fickle uncertainty. The alley resembles a relief map of the state of Nevada. The balls have little devils in them, and they skip and prance from upland to meadow, while the timid pins, across the divide, stand firm as a Central American army. At the noisy bouncing approach of the enemy, the timid pins, like a Central American army, shiver and fall. One can make a tolerable score without hitting a pin. Chance is everywhere: in the lop-sided balls, in the undulating alley, and in the gutters at the side...
