...Curricular Review appears to finally be making progress, albeit slowly. Although recommendations in the April 2004 Report on the Harvard College Curricular Review proposed calendar reform, only now is the proposal coming to fruition. In the past, we have criticized the anticipated calendar change and its complimentary January term (J-term). But given that we do have a J-term, the administration should make the options for J-term as inclusive as possible. ...theme of the speech is, "Trusting and empowering people to make decisions for themselves," says White House spokesperson Dana Perino. Bush first brought the idea of a grand summation of his presidency to his speechwriters last April, she says, and they began working on it in December as a way of carrying his last to-do list in the State of the Union speech. The theme is intended to unite Bush's domestic agenda items (making his tax breaks permanent and boosting the economy) with foreign priorities (pursuing the war in Iraq, peacemaking and boosting foreign aid) under the banner...

That is why both campaigns have sophisticated operations working behind the scenes trying to court and capture the nearly 800 super-delegates, convention officials (including all sorts of current and former elected officials) who get to vote on the nomination but are not pledged to any candidate. These boiler-room operations generate regular telephone calls from the candidates seeking support and pressure from donors to get behind one candidate or another, as well as discussion...

On Saturday, he criticized Romney for allegedly supporting a timetable for a phased withdrawal. The ambiguous Romney quote from last April that McCain relied on for this assertion came under excruciating examination, and soon enough McCain's usual allies in the news media were calling him out. Romney went one step further, calling his opponent a liar before dialing back the increasingly heated rhetoric...

...Zhou's vault to Web stardom came last April, when he was visiting Chongqing, a municipality in central China. Intrigued by a dispute that pitted a property developer against a stubborn homeowner whose refusal to leave his property had blocked the launching of construction, Zhou began writing blog entries and posting video and still images on the Web. The incident caught the imagination of Chinese Netizens, and Zhou and the Chongqing "nail house" (named thus because it stood out in an otherwise leveled landscape) became an overnight sensation. Apparently embarrassed by the publicity, the city government and the developer soon...
