Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum’s $30 million development plans for their Weld Hill site in Roslindale are rubbing many of the local residents against the grain. The Arboretum plans to use 15 to 20 thousand square feet to house greenhouses and research laboratory space, 10 to 15 thousand square feet for their administrative buildings, a half-acre for new nursery beds, and space for 25 to 30 cars, according to its website. Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum is selling off a 60-acre plot of land to the town of Weston, Mass., provided the town can find the funds to meet the $27 million price tag. The Case Estates property has been a part of the Arboretum’s holdings for over 60 years now. Robert E. Community members weighed in on the most recent development plans for Harvard-owned properties located next to the Arnold Arboretum at a meeting in the Boston neighborhood of Roslindale last night.
