This 300-year-old sentence from Areo-pagitica-"A Speech of Mr. John Milton for the Liberty of Unlicensed Printing to the Parliament of England," was very much alive last fortnight in London. In London's Institut Français, members of the International P.E.N. Club met to celebrate Areopagitica's tercentenary with a conference on: 'The Place of Spiritual and Economic Values in the Future of Mankind." California has a Student Welfare Committee whose duty is to bring forward ideas for the bettering of conditions in the university. The Dartmouth under-graduate organization popularly known as the "Areo" accomplishes much the same work, and so does the "Constructive Criticism Committee' of the Business School. The provision now made in the College is sufficient to care for all suggestions which are submitted--the machinery is ready for the individual to operate...
...beginning to see with the eye of the blind poet who said in his "Areo pagitica": "Let Truth and Falsehood grapple; who ever knew Truth put to the worse in a free and open encounter...
