Ralph Zito turns in a macho, manic performance as Ariel, the spirit forced to do Prospero's blading. Joe White, as Sebastian, gets off some well-delivered lines, and Paul Rosta is a perfectly doddering, if one-dimensional, old fool as Gonzalo. When the Boston Symphony Chamber Players decided a couple years ago to stop giving a concer series in Sanders, it looked like Harvard was going to be left in the lurch forever without a "campus" chamber series like that had at Yale. With support, Ariel should keep us flying high, even higher than they fly in New Haven...
Concentrating on Romantic and contemporary concerts. Ariel Chamber Ensemble begins its season with program of Brahms, Ravel, Stravinsky and Milhaud Ariel emphasizes "dramatic works" and the relationship between music and theater. The chamber group will play Ravel's "Trois Poemes de Stephane Mallarme," Milhaud's "La Creation du Monde," and Brahms' Quintet Op. 111. There will also be two works by Stravinsky--"Fanfare" and "Trois Poesies de la Lyrique Japonaise."
