Harvard kept the ball for a great part of the game, and was able to gain around or through Yale's line. The forwards opened holes in Yale's defence, through which Reid or Ellis would plunge for good gains. On the other hand, Yale was only able to gain through the line by the close mass formation of their play, which was greatly assisted by the wet condition of the field.
