Lehigh University, founded by Asa Packer, of Pennsylvania, has by the recent death of Mr. R. A. Packer received one-half of that gentlemen's fortune, which is estimated to be over $1,000,000. The university was founded originally with the idea of giving an excellent technical education to many ambitions young men who had not the means to pursue a course at a regular college. There is therefore no tuition expense, and admission is granted to a limited number of students from Pennsylvania who have had a high school education. The original bequest was $500,000, which...
