...Holden. In the absence of the president and vice-president, Mr. T. J. Coolidge, Jr., the treasurer, as the senior officer of the association, called the meeting to order. The report of the retiring president, Mr. George E. Lowell, '83, was read by the secretary, Mr. Atkinson, and was accepted by the association. Mr. Lowell in his report reviewed the work of the past year and gave some advice in regard to the affairs of the association during the coming year. ...running high jump followed. The four who contested were J. B. Harriman, '85, and O. Harriman, '83, both of Princeton and Atkinson, Denniston and Soren from Harvard. Denniston jumped the first height and then retired. J. B. Harriman failed at 5 feet 6 inches. Soren, Atkinson and O. Harriman were left. All three cleared 5 feet 7 1/2 inches, Atkinson on his third trial. The bar was then put up to 5 feet 9 1/2 inches; Soren and Harriman failed three times. ...were very good, and the fact that, except in the case of the mile walk, no one of the winners was pressed, give us every reason to expect far better performances next Saturday. Mr. Soren in the running high jump excelled any of his previous records, and in Mr. Atkinson, who cleared five feet six inches, we have an excellent man to take his place next year.
