Dave Brumwell lowered the 400-yd. individual medley record he set last year at the Easterns to 4:13.301 in the afternoon heats and reached the six man finals. He was unable to equal that time in the championship finals and ended up 6th in 4:15.046. Penn's Bob Atkinson, who had broken the Eastern record in the event in his afternoon trial, shaved a few more fractions of a second off that mark in winning the evening's final in 1:55.006. The 100-yd. free will probably go to Mitchell, but Kriebel or Atkinson, both of whom swam superb legs on a botched Penn 400-yd. free relay in Harvard's 58-55 upset win last year, could...

Harvard's Hess Yntema should remain undefeated in his specialty, the 200-yd. butterfly, but either Dave Brumwell or Yntema could be pressed by Atkinson in the 200-yd. individual medley. Brumwell, however, is a sure bet in his specialty, the 200-yd. breast where a Crimson sweep appears to be a strong possibility...
