...Soldiers Field this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Although the Freshmen have improved recently in nearly every department of the game, the team as a whole is still crude and undeveloped, owing to the fact that the players are mostly new men. The passing and catching on the attack are becoming more accurate, but there is still too great a tendency for individual as opposed to team work. Judging from comparative scores the chances of defeating the Stevens freshmen this afternoon are favorable...

PHILADELPHIA, PA., May 15.--The University of Pennsylvania lacrosse team defeated Harvard here this afternoon by the score of 5 goals to 1. Harvard lost the game chiefly by the poor stick work of the whole team and by a lack of aggressiveness on the part of the attack; for, although the defense played a fairly good game, on the attack the men were exceedingly slow and inaccurate in shooting, and there was little team play. Penhallow played a strong, fast game on the attack and Tomlinson guarded goal well. The University of Pennsylvania won by superior stick work...

The passing, though inaccurate at times, has greatly improved and is now fairly fast. Mr. J. A. Leighton of Hobart College, R. Wynne '02M., a member of last year's team, and Mr. H. ...score being 8 to 3. As the Columbia freshmen had already played several games, the showing of the Freshman team was very encouraging in view of the fact that this was its first game. The chief fault of the team as a whole was the tendency of the attack to fall back on the defense. Although there was decided improvement in team-work, the men were slow and clumsy in handling their sticks...

...City of New York last Saturday in an uninteresting game by the score of 6 goals to 2. On the defense the men were still slow in covering their opponents and allowed themselves to be drawn out too far. Owing to the poor stick-work and shooting of the attack, several opportunities to score against the weak defense of the New York College team were lost. Although the passing was still inaccurate, the men show improvement and are learning to handle their sticks better. Individually K. K. Smith played the best game for the University...
