...considered won until the last touchdown gave a sufficiently commanding advantage. The Pennsylvania team was trained to the hour and never let slip an opportunity to gain an advantage. Through speed and alertness, they twice secured the ball on fumbles near Harvard's goal line, and by swift, determined attack forced through the Harvard line for the two touchdowns that gave them their 10 points...

...other hand, the game showed that the Harvard team has rare offensive strength. A swifter attack than that shown through much of the game has seldom been attained by a Harvard eleven. It must be admitted, however, that the failure to grasp opportunities to score is so far from exceptional that evidence of this defect has come to seem almost meritable in each and every game; the game with Pennsylvania was no exception to this generality...

...team then made their first appearance. Chief among the defects is the lack of fight when the opponents are carrying the ball, which was very conspicuous, in last Saturday's game with Carlisle. The defense, it would seem, is as yet wholly inadequate to withstand a vigorous attack by strong opponents. On the offence, the work has been markedly irregular, and frequently in the course of one game has varied from great efficiency to exceeding weakness. ...were all in turn, used most successfully in bending back the Harvard line. The one reliable part of the defense was the work of the ends, particularly Bowditch, who spoiled several of Carlisle's plays around the end. Although during the middle of the second half, the University's attack was irresistible, its offense on the whole was by no means encouraging. During the entire first half, Harvard did not carry the ball within 40 yards of Carlisle's goal line; and in the second half, the team actually lost the ball on downs when within six inches...

...Climbers defeated the Skin and Bones in the final game of the scrub football series on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon by a score of 5 to 0. On the defensive both teams were very weak, but the backs, on the attack, were fast and aggressive. Almost all the gaining was through line bucking, and the only successful end runs were three made by Carpenter on quarter back plays, and a run of 45 yards for a touchdown made by Carr. This run was not counted on account of off-side play by the Climbers...
