...squads of the class football teams held their regular practice yesterday afternoon. The Juniors spent some time in punting and running down under kicks, after which there was a long signal practice. The men were tried in various positions and an attempt was made to pick the best men for the game with the Seniors tomorrow. The squad was coached by C. H. Robinson...
...disparaging estimate of Harvard's line was here shown by the fact that they chose to use rushing tactics rather than take the usual safe course of punting. But after gaining 8 yards a kick was forced and Marshall caught the ball 28 yards away. Harvard's third attempt to score was more successful and when the 3 yard line had been reached on 2 and 4 yards gains by Knowlton and the three backs, Graydon plunged through left tackle for a touchdown. The play was interesting always and brought out many exciting runs, which culminated near the end of the game in one of 75 yards by Marshall through a broken field for a touchdown...
Both the graded and Freshman crews have been developing very slowly of late. The Newell graded eights have gained a long even swing, but have gained this at the expense of snap and life. Any attempt to enliven the work is invariably accompanied by a rushed recovery. The men are slow at both ends of the stroke, especially at the finish. This unsatisfactory work is due very largely to repeated absences of the oarsmen; on several days the first crew has not rowed...
