...repeat of Fatah's defeat in Gaza, the U.S. moved swiftly to bolster Abbas in the West Bank by lifting an embargo on aid funds for the Palestinians. The new strategy--shared by the Israelis, the Europeans and the Bush Administration--is to flood Abbas' government with cash and attempt to transform the West Bank, while putting Gazans on a diet of limited humanitarian aid in the hope that they will ultimately revolt against their Hamas masters...

...investigation for criminal and civil penalties," Moore said. Travel to Cuba is illegal, with a few exceptions. Journalists, for example, are allowed to travel to the communist state to report a story. Moore thundered: "The documentary is a work of journalism; no laws are broken, it's just an attempt by the Bush Administration to use our federal agencies as they've been known to do in the past to politically harass opponents." This latest attempt to convert the bill's opponents comes as Democrats and Republicans both spent the past week volleying blame back and forth. After Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Democrat from Nevada, pulled the bill from debate last Thursday night (following a failed attempt to end debate), Republicans pointed to that action as evidence of the Democrats' lack of genuine interest in the legislation. Democrats, on the other hand, complained the G.O.P had slowed down the bill's progress with a litany of amendments. Thursday night, however, the group of Senators that have shepherded this bill agreed...
