...Sadat's moves might alienate not only the Syrians but the Saudis as well. State was also concerned about a negative reaction from Moscow. As soon as it became clear that neither the other Arabs nor the Soviets were going to Cairo, Carter announced that the U.S. would attend-but only after the President had asked Sadat to delay his summit until mid-December. In the meantime, U.S. diplomats will be trying to lobby the Arab moderates-primarily Hussein and Lebanese President Elias Sarkis-to send representatives to Cairo...

These comments that The Gondoliers seems static and low key are not intended to be harsh. I had to attend the Sunday matinee performance at which half the audience was either over seventy or under ten. They are not particularly responsive age groups: one not prone to belly laughs, the other a little slow on puns. But even septegenarians, kindergardenians and stray matinee-goers--in the words of W.S. Gilbert himself--beg, desire, demand a show with gusto. Still, this production of The Gondoliers is enjoyable. On bad days, it is at least beautiful pictures set to well-performed music...

...meeting was largely organizational. We elected officers, and voted to change meeting times so that the Radcliffe feminist group's meeting time wouldn't conflict with ours--so gay women on campus could attend both groups. We listened to a short presentation by a representative of the Cambridge Gay Political Caucus, who talked about Saundra Graham's campaign for state rep from Cambridge.
