HRDC manages most of the student theatrical productions during the year. At the beginning of each semester, the organization coordinates common casting--a system through which students can audition in a single week for most of the plays that will go up throughout the semester.
Of the 25,000 prospective contestants who audition for the show, more than enough qualify for the 400 slots available every season.
"About 400 contestants are chosen from about 25,000 people who audition each year."
Ironically, Zimmett's discovery story began with utter rejection--Tinkerbell was the part that she initially decided not to try, and when she finally did audition, she was not called back.
"The director, Marcus Stern, called me and asked me to audition again for the part," says Zimmett of her recall. "I was surprised--I had thought that I was out of the running."
