Memorial Hall is admirably arranged for a dining hall in all respects save one. It has no lavatory. We suggest that a lavatory be fitted up either in the small room, opposite the auditor's office, and formerly used by the association, or in some part of the basement. The convenience of such an arrangement would be greatly appreciated by those men who are obliged to go to lunch directly from recitations, and who have no conveniences for their toilet outside of their own rooms...
...Memorial Hall matter has caused such a discussion among the students that it seems to us some measure should be taken at once to solve the difficulty. Some, doubtless, still think that they have been the victims of a deceit practised upon them by the bursar or auditor, while others think that the troubles arise through the auditor's lack of experience. We suggest that an expert, or an experienced committee, be appointed who shall investigate the matter thoroughly. ...them before? Why were they not posted in the hall, as the other expenses were? The bill for $4.80 included repairs. How is it that, all at once, we are told of some enormous repairs and asked to pay for them, although we have seen no statement from the auditor that such repairs were ever made...
...rumor has been circulating that these "repairs" consisted of the roofing of the tower and the lighting of Sanders. This is so ridiculous that it is, of course, untrue. But the word "repairs" is indefinite and we would like to hear from the auditor. In all probability, the matter is clear enough to those that understand it, but common justice requires that we should all understand it. The whole affair looks peculiar from a business standpoint...
...present today a communication called forth by our article in yesterday's issue concerning the price of board at Memorial. We have given the facts as stated by the auditor and Mr. Balch, and the article in question was submitted to Mr. Balch for his approval before publication. As the matter still seems to be somewhat obscure to many, we should be glad to hear any further facts pertaining to the subject...
