George Palmer Putnam, publisher of Charles Augustus Lindbergh's book, We, was so impressed by the success of that book that he said to his friends: "Find me a 'lady Lindbergh.' " Amelia Earhart was found. She became the first woman to cross the Atlantic in an airplane. Last week, she took Mr. Putnam for an air ride from New York to Pittsburgh.
