...this year's Australian Journeys special issue, we decided to tootle along the highway too. Last month, seven writer-photographer teams hit the open road-with open minds, shutters and notebooks-to record the things we saw and the people we met. A different team, or a different month, would produce a very different collection of stories and images, but we hope that together our stories give a fair taste of life along the highway, and perhaps sharpen your desire to see it for yourselves...

In one sense, it's formulaic film-making (the triumph over adversity), but Footy Legends has heart and depth. As Do, the 2005 Young Australian of the Year, has said, the film draws on his experiences of growing up in a grimy suburb and playing football in a losing team where ethnic lines were never an issue...
...other films, it is the director’s nervous tics that drive “Scoop” to hilarity. The other actors’ performances aren’t quite on-par with those of earlier Woody pieces—Jackman’s Australian accent occasionally surfaces, and Johansson’s Sondra is uneven—but they never cause the film to lose comic traction...
